OK, Chew on This Then

"God has been made into a distinct, separate entity to which we must offer worship, humor, and please-all in the hopes to get a reward at the end of life. This is not what God is. That is blasphemy."

"The height of arrogance is the height of control of those who create God in their own image."

Those are both quotes from a VERY interesting movie on quantum physics called "What the Bleep Do We Know?!" This is a quote from the Word of God (in the form in which it is perceived by our feeble human minds):

"Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:

TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Dang...

We live in a time where scientists are beginning to find the real essence of the almighty God who created them, as the Church continues to hold up the ideas of God she has created for herself.

One of My New Favorite Quotes

Funny, I heard it first on a top 40 radio station. Shudder.

Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. - Plato

Lesson...

"...Blessed be Your name, on the road marked with suffering, though there's pain in the offering, Blessed by Your name.... You give and take away, You give and take away, my heart will choose to say, Lord, Blessed be Your name." - Matt and Beth Redman

God is good, even in the dark valleys of life. A difficult event this weekend reminded me that God can use what is meant for evil for good. In our weakness, he is our strength. Lord, Blessed be Your name.

On a Whim

Sometimes the best music I buy is the stuff I'd never heard of until I was standing in the music store. I picked up Kasabian's "Empire" today and I must say I am very, very impressed. Probably somebody I should have heard by now but, I've been living under a musical rock for a long time now. Satellite radio is changing that for me. Anyhow... if you've ever wondered what would happen if The Chemical Brothers and Sloan put out an album together, that's pretty much how I'd describe this one. Oh and on a somewhat related note, my new iMac and iTunes 7 are rocking my world right now.
